Yes, the Keurig K-Cafe and Keurig K-Cafe Special Edition coffee brewer has a spot for a charcoal water filter located on the inside-bottom of the machine’s side water reservoir. The Keurig K Cafe uses charcoal water filter cartridges measuring approximately 2 inches long and 1.12 inches tall. This charcoal filter is located inside a BPA-free, clear plastic filter handle (often sold separately from the brewer), which is then placed inside the water tank located on the side of the brewer.
For installation or replacement of your K-Cafe’s water filter, insert the charcoal water filter into the bottom of the tall plastic handle attachment. Reattach the bottom piece to secure the filter in place. Next, place the filter handle into the Keurig K Cafe brewer’s rear water tank, aiming directly over the black plastic inlet at the bottom of the reservoir. Push down to securely snap the filter holder into place.
The Keurig KCafe brewer, as well as the K-Cafe Special Edition model, use these Charcoal Water Filter Cartridges. The size of these charcoal water filters are designed to be installed inside a water filter holder which is inserted inside your coffee machine’s side water tank reservoir. The water filters measure only a couple inches long and fit the K-Cafe and Special Edition coffee maker models.
The K-Cafe brewer (and K-Cafe Special Edition Model) uses the Tall Handle Water Filter Holder. This water filter handle attachment is about 8 inches tall and is designed to install inside your Keurig coffee machine’s side water reservoir tank.
It is recommended to change your water filter after brewing approximately 1000 fluid ounces through your Keurig coffee machine. This comes out to about 125 eight ounce cups of coffee, or about every 2 months.
Everyone’s water quality is different. It is commonly recommended to use a water filter to improve the quality and taste of your beverages, as well as to help protect your brewer against scale buildup from minerals in your water. You might especially want to use a water filter if you notice unpleasant tastes, such as from chlorine or other minerals.
The Keurig K-Cafe brewer and K-Cafe Special Edition version is compatible with the My K-Cup Universal Reusable Coffee Filter. You can use this accessory to brew your own coffee in the K-Express coffee machine as if you were using a K-Cup pod. This Coffee Filter is refillable and you can use it to refill your own ground coffee.
