The Keurig K-Duo (5100) is a new innovative coffee maker which combines the best of K-Cups and ground coffee. This machine allows you to brew either a single cup from K-Cup pods, or you can brew an entire carafe using your own ground coffee and paper coffee filters. Includes a 12-cup glass carafe and built-in heating plate. Also available in these models: K-Duo Plus (5200), K-Duo Essentials (5000) coffee machine, and K-Duo Special Edition (5300).
Does the Keurig K-Duo have a water filter?
Yes, the Keurig K-Duo brewer fits the Short Handle Water Filter Holder. This accessory houses the charcoal water filter, which is then placed inside the KDuo’s water tank reservoir located behind the brewer. This starter kit attachment is also compatible with the Keurig K-Duo Essentials (5000), K-Duo Special Edition (5300) and K-Duo (5100) models.
If, on the other hand, you have a Keurig K-Duo Plus (5200) model, you will need the Tall Handle Water Filter Holder.

What mesh filter basket fits my Keurig Duo brewer model?
If you have a K-Duo, K-Duo Essentials, or Duo Special Edition model, your brewer is compatible with the Gold Tone Mesh Filter Basket.
However, if you have the KDuo PLUS coffee maker, your machine will not fit the above filter, but instead requires a specially sized basket specific to the PLUS model brewer.
Keurig K-Duo vs. K-Duo Essentials Brewer Differences
The difference between the Keurig K-Duo (5100) brewer and the K-Duo Essentials (5000) model is that Essentials coffee maker does not brew dripped coffee. Also, the K-Duo brews an extra 6 ounce cup size, whereas the Essentials version only brews 8, 10 & 12 ounce cups. Finally, the K-Duo has a High Altitude Setting, whereas the K-Duo Essentials does not.
Keurig K-Duo vs. K-Duo Special Edition Brewer Differences
The difference between the Keurig K-Duo and the K-Duo Special Edition brewers is that the Special Edition is Silver color while the K-Dup is black. Additionally, the KDuo Special Edition coffee machine has a metallic handle on its glass carafe.
What’s the Difference Between the Keurig Duo PLUS and the K-Duo Brewer?
The K-Duo Plus model has a multi-position water tank reservoir, which can be situated on the side or in the back of the coffee machine. The Plus model comes with a stainless steel thermal carafe, whereas the K-Duo model has a glass carafe with a heating plate, which the Plus model lacks. The two models also look considerable different, with the Keurig Duo Plus machine significantly slimmer in width.
