Water Filter Guide for Keurig K-Supreme (K910 / K920) Brewers

Does the Keurig K-Supreme Have a Water Filter?

Yes. The Keurig K-Supreme (K910), K-Supreme Plus (K920), and K-Supreme Plus SMART coffee makers all have a spot for a water filter located in the machine’s side water reservoir. The K-Supreme uses charcoal water filters measuring roughly 2 inches long by 1.125 inches tall. The filter is placed inside a BPA-free, clear plastic filter handle (typically sold separately from the brewer), which is then placed inside the water tank located on the side of the machine.

How Do I Replace the Keurig K-Supreme Water Filter?

Simply twist/pull the clear plastic filter housing until it comes loose from the bottom of the water reservoir. Remove the old charcoal water filter from the housing by unsnapping the bottom filter holder. Insert a new, fresh water filter cartridge and snap the filter holder back on so that the filter is securely in place. Finally, align the bottom of the filter housing with the indentations on the bottom of your water tank and push down to snap into place.

Does the Keurig K-Supreme Need a Water Filter?

Everyone’s water quality is different. It is commonly recommended to use a water filter to improve the quality and taste of your beverages, as well as to help protect your brewer against scale buildup from minerals in your water. You might especially want to use a water filter if you notice unpleasant tastes, such as from chlorine or other minerals.

How Often Should I Replace the Water Filter on a K-Supreme Brewer?

You should change your Keurig K-Supreme Coffee Brewer’s water filter after brewing approximately 1000 fluid ounces through your machine. This equates to 125 eight ounce cups of coffee, or about every 2 months. After replacing your Keurig K-Supreme water filter, you can set a water filter reminder using the touch screen on your K-Supreme brewer.

how do you place water? filter in tank there are no instructions

Hey Connie, great question! The filter holder gets placed at the bottom of the water reservoir tank. You place a charcoal water filter cartridge into the bottom container of the tall plastic filter holder assembly. Then, insert the filter handle into the bottom of your empty water reservoir. To do this, you’ll line up the bottom of the filter handle with the groove on the bottom of your reservoir, then push down firmly and lock it in place.

Hey John, I’d advise against using distilled water, and instead using a water filter or even bottled water.

Hey Vicky, from what I’ve seen some boxes will include the filter holder and others won’t. It might depend on where you purchase the brewer from. You can always purchase it separately if it was not included, I’ve updated the post above with a link to the correctly fitting holder.

Doesn’t the filter staying wet harbor bacteria that will get right into your coffee????

Hey Sue, great question! This is generally not a concern unless you go long periods of time without replacing your filters. As long as your water supply is safe for drinking, and replace your filters at least every 6 months there is no reason to believe that bacteria would grow to any appreciable degree.
